But I Shall Call it Conversion

'Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
and sorry I could not travel both
and be one traveler, long I stood,
and looked down one as far as I could
     to where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
and having perhaps the better claim,
because it was grassy and wanted wear,
though as for that the passing there
had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
in leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
     somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.'

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

(...but as for my own life, I shall just call it 'Conversion')

  1. And both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black...
I like this image and can so easily place myself at that fork in the road. And I love the phrase "way leads on to way"... I've certainly found that to be true in my own life! xx

    1. Isn't that so very true, Trish? Way leads on to way to way to way.....

    1. Thank you - I happened upon the painting and, even though it doesn't show "paths" exactly, I was struck by how it drew me right in.

  4. And I also love how you just call it "conversion." It is always the road less traveled and ongoing and one that makes all the difference in the best ways. Thank you again for sharing this....
